The Story Behind the Brand

Have you ever walked into a store and instantly felt like you were home? That's the feeling I hope you get when you step foot into Mary Beth's Mercantile. The story behind my charming little shop is just as charming as the store itself, promise!

Who is Mary Beth?

Well, Mary Beth is not just a made-up name for the store. Mary Beth is my mom's name and we were the best shopping buddies! She was taken from us far too early but I am honored to carry on her legacy by naming the store after her. My mom had an eye for decor and she effortlessly made our house a home! I hope the treasures you find at MBM will fill your heart with the same joy I felt while shopping with my mom!

How did it all start?

Opening a destination shopping experience has been a dream of mine for quite some time! As a stay at home mom for 11 years, I didn't have the time or the resources to chase the dream. As our kids got a little older and I had more time, I kept an eye on commercial real estate. One day, I stumbled across the yellow building that sat on the property. Its quaint, little, abandoned soul spoke to me. I immediately felt a connection with the space it took up and knew I could bring it back to life - MBM style. Having grown up just a few miles away from Dade City, I felt called to preserve our little hometown nooks and crannies. It was time for this dream to become a reality!

What makes MBM special?

At Mary Beth's Mercantile, you won't find your typical mass-produced items. I try really hard to find items that are locally sourced and also American made. Truth be told, I get lost reading the stories of small shop owners and want to support them just as much as I want to support our town.  I love curating gifts for all of the people in my life and I think that MBM is an excellent source for creating something special for your special someone.

I find it truly rewarding to see the transformation that occurs when someone reconnects with their sense of self through fashion! I remember the days when I felt overwhelmed by the demands of motherhood, often prioritizing everyone else's needs over my own. I learned that taking time for myself, even in small ways, can make a huge difference in my overall happiness and confidence. I believe that every mama deserves to feel beautiful & stylish no matter her body type or the challenges that she faces. I aim to empower women to embrace their uniqueness, celebrate their curves, and rediscover the joy of dressing up!

When the brick and mortar location opens in 2025, it will be a place for gathering. I intend to host various events including food truck nights, live music, yoga sessions, pop-ups, and small parties. I have huge dreams for the connections made and friendships grown in and around MBM!

What's next for MBM?

The future is bright for this little gem of a store. Construction is set to start in the next few months and there are a few pop-ups on the calendar as well!
